Tax years 2020 – 2025

Prior-year trackers. For the years you didn’t track.

A workbook for a tax year that has already closed, with that year’s own mileage rates, meal limits and wage base built in. You fill it in from your bank statements; it produces a Schedule C summary to hand to whoever prepares the return.

How many years?

Most people need six years, not one

The IRS generally asks for the last six years of returns to bring a non-filer back into compliance. That is why the archive runs 2020 to 2025, and why the six-year set, at less than the price of five single years, is the usual purchase.

One tax yearPro edition $47$27
All six years, 2020 – 2025Pro edition $217$127
All six years plus 2026Pro edition $252. Adds the 2026 edition and the free Personal tracker, in Classic Navy & Teal.$147

Want your 2026 tracker in another color? Take the six-year set and add the 2026 tracker separately: $154 (Pro $264), with the Personal tracker still free.

Why it matters

Each year is built, not relabeled

A prior-year workbook is not the current file with the date changed. The rules moved, and in two of these years they moved in ways many tools still get wrong.

202057.5¢50%80%

202258.5¢, then 62.5¢ from July 1100% restaurant, 50% other100%
202365.5¢50%80%
202467¢50%80%
202570¢50%80%

The 2022 mid-year mileage change

The IRS raised the rate on July 1, 2022. The workbook applies the right rate to each trip by its date, so you don’t split the year by hand.

The meal rule for 2021 and 2022

A temporary measure made restaurant meals fully deductible for those two years. Those workbooks carry two meal categories, so the right rate goes on each.

Trucking per diem, 2021 and 2022

The same measure took per diem for hours-of-service drivers to 100% from the usual 80%. A flat 80% for those years understates the deduction.

What you get, per year

  • Dashboard, income log, expense log and mileage tracker for that year
  • A Schedule C summary to print and hand to your preparer
  • A deduction finder for what your profession most often misses
  • A home office calculator and a write-off guide
  • Source and Estimated columns on both logs, so a figure taken from a statement is told apart from one you reconstructed
  • Both the Excel and the Google Sheets edition

How a prior-year edition differs

  • One color theme: Classic Navy & Teal.
  • No Personal tracker with the prior years alone. It comes free with the 2026 edition, so it is included in “All six years plus 2026.”
  • No quarterly estimate tab; the year has closed.
  • Refunds for older years may no longer be claimable. These workbooks are for getting late returns organized and filed.
  • They don’t calculate penalties or interest.

Questions

Prior-year questions, answered

Which tax years can I get?

Tax years 2020 through 2025, for all seven trackers. The current 2026 edition is in the Shop.

How is a prior-year tracker different from the 2026 edition?

It carries that year’s own figures, such as the mileage rate and the meal rules. It comes in one color theme, Classic Navy & Teal, and it has no quarterly estimate tab because the year has closed. The Personal tracker is not included with prior years alone; it is included in “All six years plus 2026.”

How many years should I get?

Each workbook covers one tax year, so you need one for each year you are organizing. If you are catching up on unfiled returns, read Behind on your taxes first; it explains the IRS’s usual six-year policy. Which years you must file is a question for a tax professional.

Can I pick a color theme?

Prior-year trackers come in Classic Navy & Teal only. In “All six years plus 2026,” the 2026 tracker and the Personal tracker are Classic Navy & Teal too. If you want your 2026 tracker in another color, take the six-year set and add the 2026 tracker separately: $154 (Pro $264).

Will it file my return or figure my penalties?

No. It organizes your income, expenses and mileage for the year and produces a Schedule C summary for you or whoever prepares your return. It does not prepare or file a return, and it does not calculate penalties or interest.

How do I get my files?

By email, within minutes of checkout. Each year comes in an Excel edition and a Google Sheets edition: a single year is 2 files, the six-year set is 12, and six years plus 2026 is 16.

What if I pick the wrong year?

Each workbook covers only the tax year shown, and all sales are final, so please check the year before you buy. The year is shown on the button you pick, in your cart and on your receipt.

Unfiled returns, or a balance you can’t pay?

Read what happens next before you buy anything. It covers the options the IRS offers at little or no cost, and how to spot a firm that will overcharge you.

The workbooks apply the figures published for each tax year; review anything that affects your return with a qualified tax professional. The Source and Estimated columns are an organizing aid and are not substantiation. All sales are final; wrong or unopenable files are resent or fixed, usually within one business day.
